"Okay so I gotta start by saying Jacob Johnson clearly cares about his customers. How do I know this? I was right there with him as he THOROUGHLY diagnosed a very tricky refrigerant leak coming from the outside compressor which turned my humble home into a hothouse. This booger was SO tricky, it had us BOTH convinced it was in the main outside unit coil which is usually, uh, oh, $10K for a new system, as repairs there are often next to impossible. Spray after spray of leak test….NO BUBBLES, but we could both audibly hear the leak. The leak detectives were seemingly quite stumped. But wait, the plot thickens. Jacob did not give up and after better than an hour and dang near a full bottle of leak test we saw the bubbles we were looking for. Drum roll please. The leak was in the copper line coming out of the compressor and NOT the main outside unit coil. Whew, I think I just saved about $9K!!! Jacob quickly devised a plan that made sense to us both. We parted ways and he sent an invoice that I read and approved about 30 minutes later, never really thinking this busy solo AC warrior would be able to get to it today. No more than two hours later the indoor temp had risen to 87F. The only things that may have been happy were the houseplants at that juncture. My wife and daughter sure weren’t. Within another half hour there was Jacob at my home with the repair needed supplies and copious amounts of refrigerant that would be needed. He lit into it and performed the tricky pipe fitting work in tight quarters inside the outside compressor with much acumen. He then drained the old school refrigerant and filled up with the new good stuff(required). We had likely lost 70-80% of the refrigerant and it made sense to have ALL of the refrigerant the same type, so ALL was replaced. The tricky copper line repair, refrigerant drain and refill, complete test was done in under 3.5 hours. Including the time spent diagnosing Jacob had given by my calculations close to six hours of his time!!! The house cooled from 87F to 75F in no time at all. Plants said boo, people said YAY!! Let’s hear it for the people. Power to the people! Lastly the price. I won’t list the exact number, but my 13 year old American Standard Platinum 2 Stage was given a new life. If I get a few more years of service from it, it’s definitely A HUGE win. What stood out most was Jacob’s tenacity to stick with it and find the hard evidence of the EXACT leak location. It would have been easy to just throw up his hands and prescribe a new unit. That didn’t happen of course because of well I guess I will call it “virtuosity.” Get it? In the end, as I sit hear at 128AM typing this, I feel very good about the outcome. Since I really didn’t sleep last night, I suppose I should now and close this review and my eyes for a while.
